Home My WebLink About90-0912 Randall Road Name Change 90 _ oc ,a RESOLUTION CHANGING THE NAME OF RANDALL ROAD TO NORTH RANDALL ROAD AND SOUTH RANDALL ROAD _ BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS, that the public street known as Randall Road from Route 20 to the northern Elgin city ' limits be and the same is hereby redesignated and renamed North Randall Road. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the public street known as Randall Road from Route 20 to the southern Elgin city limits be and the same is hereby redesignaed and renamed South Randall Road. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all City signs and maps shall be altered to read North Randall Road and South Randall Road at the aforesaid places. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to give written notice to the election authorities having jurisdiction in the area in which the street name is hereby changed and to the post office branch serving that area by certified or registered mail. Rice, City Manager SUBJECT: Randall Road Name Change PURPOSE This memorandum will provide the Mayor and City Council with information to consider changing the name of Randall Road. BACKGROUND The Bureau of Inspection Services proposes the name of Randall Road be changed to "North Randall Road" , north of the Illinois Route 20 by-pass; and, "South Randall Road" , south of the Illinois Route 20 by-pass. Changing the name of Randall Road to differentiate between North Randall Road and South Randall Road would help clarify a location during an emergency situation. FINANCIAL IMPACT The cost involved with the name change from this roadway would be minimal. The corporate authorities would have to notify in writing by registered or certified mail the post office serving this street and the election authority having jurisdiction in the area. Thereafter, I received a telephone call from Nabi Fakroddin, Director of the Kane County Division of Transportation. He informed me that in order to change the name of RAndall Road, it would be necessary to obtain approval from the Transportation Committee and the Development Committee of the County Board. He further informed me that it was very unlikely that a request to change the name of Randall Road would be approved.
