Cook, City Manager SUBJECT: Maintenance Agreement with Elgin Academy PURPOSE: The Parks and Recreation Board requests the Council ' s approval of the Elgin Academy agreement. BACKGROUND: In an effort to establish maintenance agreements with outside individuals , organizations , groups, etc. , the Director of Parks and Recreation contacted Tom Favale, Business Manager for Elgin Academy, related to establishing a maintenance agreement. After several meetings at Old Main the details were worked out and the attached agreement drafted. After researching past maintenance costs for Old Main and the Franklin Boulevard median strip it was determined $950 a year would be paid to the Academy for their services. This amount will be transferred from the Parks Division ' s operating budget and will not only improve the efficiency of the summer mowing operation but reflects a savings to the City of approximately $200 - $300 per year. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The amount of $950 a year will be paid out of the Parks Division operating budget. RECOMMENDATION: The Elgin Parks and Recreation Board recommends the Elgin City Council approve the agreement with Elgin Academy. a s J. Co , City Manager ttachment
