HomeMy WebLinkAbout79-0401 Lyle Kemp -441- 04° CONTRACT FOR EMPLOYMENT THIS AGREEMENT made this 1st day of April, 1979 by and between the City of Elgin, a municipal corporation of the State of Illinois, herein referred to as "City" and Lyle Kemp residing at 533 Congdon Avenue , hereinafter referred to as "Employee". WITNESSETH 1. In consideration of the mutual promises herein contained, the City agrees to employ the employee, and the employee agrees to work for and enter the service of the City under the following terms hereby agreed on. 2. The employee shall be employed as a seasonal laborer in the golf operation of the Department of Parks and Recreation of the City of Elgin and shall perform such other services as the City may from time to time prescribe. 3. The employee shall commence his work hereon the 1st day of April, 1979 and the employment shall continue for a period of 12 months, until March 30, 1980. 4. The City shall compensate the employee over a period of 12 months at a salaried rate of $624 per month which shall be based on a 40-hour week at $5.40 per hour times 173.3 hours per month times the eight months he is assigned as a seasonal laborer. 5. The City shall compensate the employee for hours worked over 40 hours per week at a rate of $5.40 per hour to be paid per payroll period earned. 6. The City shall provide the employee during the term of this contract with the standard full-time employee group hospitalization plan for the employee and his dependents, and life insurance in the amount of $2,500. 7. The employee shall be eligible for the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund as a standard full time employee of the City. 8. The employee shall be eliglble for Workmen's Compensation upon commencement of his employment with the City. 9. The employee shall not accrue vacation hours but the City shall between April 1, 1979 and November 30, 1979 compensate the employee in addition to his base pay for holidays worked at a rate of $5.40 per hour per that week. Page 1 of 2 10. The employee shall be eligible for four days of sick leave during the term of this agreement which shall not be cumulated with other agreements or other employment with the City. 11. The employee shall not be eligible for unemployment benefits during any period of this contract. 12. The employee shall after November 30, 1979 be on active standby status for other work as required by the City. Employment during this period shall be compensated, in addition to the employee's base pay, at the existing hourly rate for that part-time position for which the employee is employed.
